Depart from base at 9am approx and we will head for one of Ireland’s great country houses Fota House for morning tea/coffee. We will visit the servant’s wing intact and experience the contrast of life of the people who lived upstairs and those who worked downstairs. At Fota House and Gardens take a tour through the ground rooms of the aristocracy where invaluable landscape paintings and magnificent plasterwork adorn the comfortable surroundings. Continue your tour through the plain corridors of the servant’s wing where the bustle of pots and pans, and the clatter of delph and cutlery formed. The backdrop to the endless odious work of the servant class. We will then head for Ballyseedy Garden Centre where you can relax in the surroundings of The Bakestone Cafe or browse around the shop and purchase from The Blarney Wollen Mills or Meadows & Byrne departments. We will spend about two hours in Ballyseedy Gardens before making our way to Cobh and to the Titanic Trail guided walking tour. The Titanic Trail is a fascinating guided tour that explores the town of Cobh in Cork Harbour which has the last port of call of RMS Titanic. This is short heritage walking tour takes visitors through the historic town of Cobh where the building streets and piers have not changed since the Titanic’s sinking over 100 years ago. Hear the real stories of the ship and lots more. We will depart Cobh and make our way for our evening meal at The Elm Tree Glounthaune.
